Our first verified stories are being prepared
We are working with women and communities to document their experiences carefully, with their consent and in their own words. Stories will appear here as soon as they are approved.
Our storytelling standards
How we tell stories
The people in our stories are partners in our work, not subjects of it. These standards apply to every story, photo and quote we publish.
- Informed consent. We explain how a story or photo will be used, and we publish only with clear permission. People can withdraw consent at any time.
- Dignity first. We show people as capable and active, never as helpless. We avoid images that shame or sensationalise.
- Protecting children. We do not publish children’s full names or details that could identify where they live, and we require a parent’s or guardian’s consent.
- Real quotes only. Quotes are the person’s own words, shared with permission. We never invent testimonials.
- Honest outcomes. We describe what actually changed, and say clearly when results are still being measured.
- Privacy where needed. We change names or leave out details when a person’s safety or privacy could be at risk, and we say so.
Have a story to share?
If you have taken part in LAWODA’s activities and would like to share your experience, we would love to hear from you. Nothing will be published without your permission.
