Climate & Clean Cooking
Cleaner, more efficient cooking with affordable energy-saving cookstoves — reducing smoke in the home, fuel costs and pressure on trees.
Our work
Our work covers four connected areas. Each one responds to everyday realities in Laikipia — and each one is stronger because of the others.
01 · Climate
Cleaner, more efficient cooking with affordable energy-saving cookstoves — reducing smoke in the home, fuel costs and pressure on trees.
02 · Food security
Dryland and climate-smart farming practices that help households in a semi-arid county grow, keep and eat more of their own food.
03 · Leadership
Grassroots women building the confidence, skills and networks to take part in — and lead — the decisions that shape their communities.
04 · Community
Amplifying community voices, encouraging good health and wellbeing, and supporting peaceful, inclusive local participation.
How it connects
A woman who spends less time collecting firewood has more time for her farm or business. A family that grows more of its own food is better able to handle a dry season. A woman with confidence and a network is more likely to be heard when her community makes decisions.
That is why we do not treat energy, food, leadership and wellbeing as separate projects. Wherever possible, activities in one area open doors in another — and women’s leadership runs through all of them.
Across all our work
Protecting the people we work with — especially children and vulnerable adults — comes before any activity, photo or story.
We aim to include women of all ages, women with disabilities, and those who are often left out of community processes.
We publish results only once they are verified, and we say clearly when something is still being measured.
Partners can work with us on a single theme or across our connected programme. Tell us what you have in mind.
